Do I have USB 3.0 port?
« on: March 27, 2019, 03:30:58 pm »
I have about Ten USB ports on my Dell Desktop PC.  They are labeled SS and some symbol after that.
Does this mean SuperSpeed USB 3.0 port?

The USB symbol followed by SS (super speed) does mean USB 3.0 and an additional plus sign means its a charging port.

An odd thing that I read recently, is that USB 3.0 and USB 3.1 Gen 1 are the same thing. Can you confirm that Jan?

SS means support for SuperSpeed (5 Gbps, defined in USB 3.0, referred to as Gen 1 in the USB 3.1 spec).

SS+ means support for SuperSpeed Plus (10 Gbps, defined in USB 3.1, referred to as Gen 2 in the USB 3.1 spec).

Just announced: USB 3.2 Gen 2x2:  SuperSpeed USB 20 Gbps
