Issue w/ USB.org EHCI HSETT Program for HS Device?
« on: March 11, 2015, 03:43:00 pm »
We have this program downloaded from USB.org, and it seems to be VERY finicky: when I launch it, I get the message saying "Please wait while the stack switches", as expected. I find that this message will stay on the screen for anywhere from a fraction of a second to multiple seconds. However, it seems the VAST majority of the time (90%) after flashing this message nothing happens: the PC just sits there (I've let it sit for up to ten minutes). In Device Manager, it shows up under "USB Compliance Controllers" as it should. If I go into Task manager, I can see it running in the Processes tab, but nothing ever happens. Eventually, I kill it, restart the PC, and try again. I have tried manually updating the driver as noted in the "Troubleshooting" section of the "HSET Test Tool Setup Instruction" doc (version 0.41).

When I DO get it working, it will typically run without trouble for multiple days. But if I have to power down the PC or something, I have to go through the process all over again.

Anyone use this tool? Have issues with it?

I haven't used it, but in my experience, the developer tools from USB-IF can be difficult to get running. My best advice is to pay attention to any requirements and limitations (supported OSes, security settings, etc.) and hope for an update.
