get_io.dll by Graham Bartlett - Failing on some systems
« on: May 12, 2011, 04:16:32 am »
Hello,
we are using the functions of the get_io.dll to retrieve the base addresses of parallel ports needed by our application.
Generally all is working fine (especially conducting our in house tests), but we're experiencing problems on some devices of our costumers.
I ask our customers to send us back some output to see where it fails:

<---------------------->

GetNumIODeviceClasses 54
GetIODeviceClassNameLength(0) failed
GetIODeviceClassName(0) failed
GetIODeviceClassName(0) = Ö ’|@þ"
GetNumIODevices(0) failed

<----------------------->

..and another one...

<----------------------->

GetNumIODeviceClasses 55
GetIODeviceClassNameLength(0) failed
GetIODeviceClassName(0) failed
GetIODeviceClassName(0) = Ö ?|@þ"
...
GetNumIODevices(24) failed

<----------------------->

Both of this happened on Windows Xp SP3 with HP-Devices.

Has anyone seen something like that before, especially this strange ClassName entry?
Why does it fail at all?

Best regards,
   Michael
