Serious Hardware Analyzer

Are there any devices out there that analyze a number of protocols in addition to USB? My Computer Engineering professor at school has appointed me to investigate a device that can do more than just USB, so that it can serve as a valuable tool in his lab -- not one that can only do USB.

The USB part of this future-lab-tool needs to at least be able to analyze USB 2.0 High Speed, including the lower speeds (full,low). USB=3 a plus (+).

I do not yet have a budgett. Any recommendations?

There are scopes which will decode protocols. I used a Tek DPO4000 series scope, you could get add in modules to decode USB protocols, as well as others. I'd prefer a dedicated protocol analyser to that though.

There was an analyzer which had plug in modules for various protocols, I now can't remember who made it. I'm not sure they're in business any more. It had a very good SCSI module and a mediocre USB module.

For USB work, I still prefer the CATC analysers (now Teledyne LeCroy).
