Title: A dream- pushbutton ctrl+alt+del dongle?
Post by: way2trivial on April 26, 2012, 04:08:05 pm
So I've recently become entranced with the use of a Microsoft freebie called mouse without borders-  they only thing it does not allow is for me to send a ctrl+alt+del remotely-
Amazingly, I can do any dang thing else--  but to logon I have to leave a keyboard attached..

anyone know of a small programmable dongle that reads as a hid keyboard-something flash key sized, I could plug into the pc's front usb port- recognized as a keyboard,
where if I push a button  it'll send a pre-programmed key sequence (in my case ctrl+alt+del) ???

Obviously, I can find a small damn keyboard for $10,  but I'd rather spend close to 30 and cut the clutter if I can.
memories of this old joke item is what made me think of it..

thanks..

I don't know of any existing device for this, though that doesn't mean there isn't one.

You could make one with almost any USB controller by adapting keyboard firmware.

You could use a KeyWarrior24-8M chip which requires almost no external circuitry and connect a button to it. It does have the ctrl-alt-del combination already programmed on it:
